What Is Latisse?

Latisse is a prescription topical solution containing bimatoprost, applied once nightly to the base of the upper eyelashes. It works by extending the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle and increasing the number of hairs that grow, resulting in lashes that are longer, thicker, and darker.

How to Apply Latisse

Latisse is easy to use at home as part of your nighttime routine:

  • Remove makeup and contact lenses, and wash your face
  • Place one drop of Latisse on a sterile, single-use applicator
  • Draw the applicator carefully along the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the base of the lashes
  • Blot any excess and use a new applicator for the other eye
  • Do not apply to the lower lash line

When Will I See Results?

Many patients begin to notice longer lashes in about four weeks, with full results at around 16 weeks. To maintain results, continue applying Latisse as directed. If you stop, lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.

Is Latisse Safe?

Latisse is FDA-approved and well tolerated by most patients. Possible side effects include eye itching, redness, and darkening of the eyelid skin, which is typically reversible. There’s a rare possibility of increased brown pigment in the colored part of the eye. Because Latisse requires a prescription, your provider will review your medical history, including any eye conditions or glaucoma medications, before prescribing.

Complete Your Look

Pair fuller lashes with smoother skin around the eyes. Treatments like Botox for crow’s feet, tear trough fillers, and (plated) Skin Science EYE Serum can brighten and refresh the eye area. Our Obagi ELASTIderm eye products also support firmer-looking skin. For thinning brows, ask about Alma TED.
